Synovia Solutions™ Provides Fleet Tracking Solutions for University of Florida

 Synovia announces the signing of Florida’s flagship university to serve its Facilities Services department with solution designed to improve service and save money

INDIANAPOLIS – Synovia Solutions is proud to announce the recent signing of the University of Florida as a customer of its fleet tracking solution.

The university’s Facilities Services department has acquired more than 300 tracking devices as well as Synovia’s suite of digital fleet tracking tools that allow the department to manage its diverse fleet of vehicles ranging from electric golf carts to dump trucks.

            The Facilities Services department is responsible for maintaining approximately 15 million square feet of building space that stretches across 2,000 acres in and around the Gainesville, Florida area.

         Synovia Solutions will help its approximately 900 employees track vehicles that include large bucket trucks, electric vehicles and conventional fleet sedans. Their Synovia contract also included non-conventional fleet assets like industrial-sized lawn mowers.

            The University of Florida (UF) is, in many ways, like a small city in that it operates and maintains a power generation station, wastewater treatment facility, a hotel, an infirmary as well as a gas station.

            “We maintain a complex learning and living environment that includes many of the facilities you would find in a city as well as the dormitories and classrooms unique to a university,” said Allen Masters, Assistant Director of Facilities Services at the University of Florida. “We wanted to invest in a fleet tracking solution that would be able to assist us in the event an asset is missing or even stolen and also provide the sort of data that could make our team better informed of their behaviors on the road.”

            The department provides direct services for UF buildings, common areas, streets, sidewalks, landscaping, utility systems, supporting the mission to maintain and improve a physical environment conducive to learning, teaching, research and service for UF students, faculty, staff and campus visitors, according to the department’s Web site.
